189,00 kr.
Varenummer: 0216hardback

Bogen modtog Association of Chess Professional´s "Book of the Year 2014" prisen.

New York Times beskriver historien således i 1992: "Notions of chess have been shattered by a teen-age Hungarian girl - some call her modest and soft-spoken, but many opponents know her as a ferocious tiger over the board - who after years of steady progress began breathing down the necks of the top men and now has broken the barrier of one of the world's most exclusive clubs: she has earned the rank of grandmaster at 15 years, 5 months, one month younger than Bobby Fischer when he did it 34 years ago"

Anmeldelser:

"I have nothing but praise and admiration for this book. Great games and superb annotations! Due to the complexity of her games you might expect the book to be filled with reams of variations, but Judit does a great job of explaining the ideas behind the moves and selecting only the most essential lines."

GM Matthew Sadler, New in Chess

"The same detailed verbal explanations, clear insight and brilliant attacking ideas, coupled with the very high production quality we have come to expect from this publisher, are all as evident here as in the first volume. However, this volume shows a gradual maturing of Polgar's style, coupled with an increase in the level of her opposition.

I had expected this book to be as good as the first and it doesn't disappoint. My assessment: * * * * * (out of 5 stars)"

IM Sam Collins, Chess Today

"From GM to Top Ten is not only strong on the chess content side of the ledger. It features extensive biographical material including Judit's recounting of her famous loss to Kasparov at Linares where the World Champion got away with violating the touch move rule. There are several pages about Bobby Fischer's relationship with the Polgar family. Many high quality photographs and player and name indexes round out a first rate production."

IM John Donaldson

"I enjoyed the little stories just as much as the sparkling games. We even get the inside story of the infamous clash with Kasparov (Linares, 1994), in which the 13th World Champion let go of his knight, saw that his move would lose the exchange and then quickly picked it up and played another move (and won, 10 moves later). It all happened so quickly but there were people watching and the champion got away with it. Judit's prose coverage of the incident is well worth reading.

The book is beautifully produced, with a hardback binding and numerous photographs (some of them full-page - a real rarity in chess books)... Extremely entertaining and highly instructive, this is a truly a book to savour."

Sean Marsh (full review)

"A masterpiece... From deep inside my heart I can recommend this book to anyone who has a passion for the game of chess."
